Ryan Phillippe on Reese Witherspoon Split: "Things Happen!"

"I'm tired of getting s**t on," Ryan Phillippe told Howard Stern during an interview on his Sirius XM radio on Monday. He went on to say he and his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon are just fine, but it's the press who's still portraying him as the bad guy!

"I've been dumped on in the press for relationship stuff since Reese and I divorced," Ryan told Howard (via PopEater). "I'm tired of getting s**t on. I don't feel like I deserve it. Things happen! How many people have you broken up with over your life?"

Ryan was rumored to have cheated on Reese when she filed for divorce in 2006 after seven years of marriage.

Now, Ryan says he and Reese remain friends for the sake of their two children.

"After I had my breakup, she called, and after she did, I called," Ryan said referring to his break up about four months ago with Abbie Cornish and Reese's break up with Jake Gyllenhaal.

"If the kids care about mom and dad... and they feel protected that way, they don't really care so much about who the parent is dating," he added. "They just don't."

As for Ryan and dating in the future he going to trying a new tactic.

"I have a new rule: not to date anyone who has a publicist," he said.
