Luke Pell Reveals He Had A 'Contract' To Be 'The Bachelor' & ABC Pulled The Plug Hours Before The Announcement

Sorry Luke Pell, you will not be giving out the roses this season! The former contestant on The Bachelorette revealed MAJOR details about how he was planning to be the next leading man!

“We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward,” Luke told Us Weekly of his contract with ABC to be the next Bachelor.

He continued, “I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A. I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m. They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction. I was supposed to fly out Monday morning at 9 a.m. I had my bags packed and everything. Most dramatic Monday ever!”

On Tuesday, it was revealed that a former contestant on The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise, Nick Viall, will be the upcoming Bachelor.

Luke had a lot more than just a plane ticket booked! He admitted that his "intro filming" was planned, his sister was planned to "come on for a date and give advice as part of the show," and he even "met with the wardrobe guys."

Despite the last minute change up, Luke admitted he has "come to accept the decision.” He explained, “From all my years in the military, I’ve learned that some things are out of my control. I put it in the past, and I’m moving forward. It was a huge surprise, but the element of surprise and unexpected decisions is what the show thrives off of.”
