Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield bought a house together! We think they’re one of Hollywood’s most adorable couples, and the news got us thinking about other famous couples who have taken (or were close to taking) that big step. Turns out you can learn a lot about love and life in Hollywood! Have a click through our gallery to see what we learned from each of these couples!
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield News emerged Saturday that one of our very favorite couples, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, have purchased a $2.5 million house in Beverly Hills. Their new pad boasts 3,862 square feet, four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a double-height living room with wood-beam ceilings and a brick fireplace, plus a master suite with French doors leading to a beautiful backyard and a pool. Congrats to the couple, who began dating in June 2011, on taking this next step! It's an important one that should not be taken lightly. In fact, you need not look much further than Hollywood for some tips to help decide whether it's one you are ready to take. Here, a look at some couples who have taught us a thing or two about achieving successful cohabitation.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth TIP 1: Proceed with cautious optimism. Miley cited the old "life's too short" argument when naysayers brought up hers and fiance Liam Hemsworth's young ages upon news of their engagement in June 2012. (She's 19, he's 22.) We love her attitude, and think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who did not strive to live for the moment. Still, Miley and Liam's love story, coupled with the fickle nature of showbiz relationships, has reminded us it is best to proceed with cautious optimism when considering life-altering decisions like living together. Days after the engagement was reported, news broke that Miley and Liam had already been living together in San Fernando Valley, Calif. Miley and Liam have now been engaged for about five months and together (on and off) since Sept. 2009. They met filming 'The Last Song,' and Miley once said Liam was her "first serious boyfriend." She wasn't kidding!
Lea Michele and Cory Monteith TIP 2: Take time for yourself. In May 2012, reports surfaced that Cory, 30, and Lea, 26, were thinking about moving in together. We're sure these 'Glee' stars know that too much togetherness is never a good thing. As much as we'd love to imagine these two singing to each other while they cook dinner and make the bed, the reality is: they work together, and working together and living together doesn't leave much time to be... apart. It's important advice for everyone: time apart is just as important as time together!
Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy TIP 3: Don't force it. OK, we know they didn't actually ever live together (Conor is still in high school, after all!), but hopeless romantic Taylor, 22, bought a house across the street from Conor's family's in Cape Cod. So while they might not have shared a deed, there were certainly some big real estate decisions being made on an account of the relationship. Sadly, Taylor and Conor broke up in October (supposedly), before she even closed on the house. It all just goes to show: there's nothing wrong with taking things slow! Love waits. Especially when you're 22 and 18!
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart TIP 4: Communication is key. Let's face it — just because you're in the same house doesn't mean you're on the same page. That much was proven when Kristen, 22, blindsided live-in boyfriend Rob, 26, with the confession that she'd cheated on him with her married 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders, 41. Robsten broke up last July, immediately following the news. To the delight of many heartbroken 'Twilight' fans, they have since appeared to be on the road to recovery, and there have even been reports that they are once again living together. Rob and Kristen's relationship has been surrounded by 'Twilight' pandemonium since it began, and it's only natural they could sometimes feel stifled — but it's difficult to express that without risking hurt feelings. Still, it's always better to talk things out (before you do something you might regret).
Michelle Williams and Jason Segel TIP 5: When there are children involved, put them first. It was reported just last month that Michelle, 32, and Jason, 32, are sharing a waterfront apartment in Brooklyn. And of course, they have a very special roommate: Michelle's 7-year-old daughter with the late Heath Ledger, Matilda. Michelle and Jason's romance was confirmed in March, and we have since enjoyed seeing the two of them out and about with Matilda — not to mention all the times we saw Jason and Matilda bonding alone! You can bet that Jason took getting to know Matilda just as seriously as he did Michelle! "I don't want a girlfriend for the sake of having a girlfriend," he said back in March. "I have no desire to pick a random girl. I want the right girl. There are plenty of opportunities, but I would rather have the right one." Sounds to us like Michelle and Matilda are just right for Jason!
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds TIP 6: Go with your gut. We know it might seem like we're contradicting ourselves, but hear us out — Blake, 25, and Ryan, 36, seem to have been sure about each other right from the start. Gotta love that! It's natural to ask those close to you for opinions about your partner or romantic situation, but ultimately, you have to trust your instincts. Blake and Ryan had not even confirmed they were dating when they were spotted apartment hunting in Manhattan last year, and they still hadn't addressed their relationship publicly before getting married in a surprise ceremony in September! It's the first marriage for Blake and the second for Ryan (he was previously married to Scarlett Johansson, and was also engaged to Alanis Morrissette.) There's something about his whirlwind romance with Blake, though, that gets our hearts pounding. They seem to trust themselves and each other, and we think they could make it last!
