The third Stand Up to Cancer event was televised last night, and after the many performances, speeches and stories, there was hardly a dry eye left in the house.
Stars like Robert Pattinson, Justin Timberlake and Minka Kelly came out to support cancer research, as well as countless others. Kristen Bell, Allison Sweeney and Elizabeth Banks were among those answering phones and taking donations. Alicia Keys' rousing performance of "Not Even the King" was nothing short of inspiring. Tim McGraw and Coldplay also performed, but the performance being most talked about (and generating the most tears) was Taylor Swift's simple acoustic tune called "Ronan," which she wrote for a 3-year-old boy who lost his battle with a neuroblastoma last year. The song is available on iTunes, and all the proceeds go to cancer-related charities.
Also in attendance: Samuel L. Jackson, Chelsea Handler, Katie Couric, Sofia Vegrara, Eric Stonestreet, Jim Parsons, Gabby Douglas and Jennie Garth, among others. The impressive turnout is just another reminder that virtually no one's life has been untouched by this disease.
