Justin Bieber closed the 2015 American Music Awards on Nov. 22 with a medley of songs off his new album, “Purpose,” but the young star was not only caught lip-syncing as he danced in the rain but smoking, as well, before he hit the red carpet!

Justin, 21, rocked a Nirvana T-shirt and ripped jeans on the carpet, which upset many fans of the band. The Hollywood bad boy was then spotted lighting up something curious after he got out of his car.

Justin previously spoke to i-D magazine in an interview about marijuana. He said, “I mean, honestly, it’s just about perception. At the end of the day, there are people who don’t think that’s good. And if they don’t feel that’s good then I don’t want to make people feel uncomfortable. So I’m not going to put it in their face.”

He walked away the winner along with Skrillex and Diplo for Collaboration of the Year for their song “Where Are Ü Now.”

The singer started with an acoustic version of his hit song “What Do You Mean?” before joining his back-up dancers for "Where Are Ü Now” and then a moody version of “Sorry.”

But it was quite obvious throughout the last portion of the performance that Justin was lip-syncing, as the mic wasn’t even close to his lips as the song played.
