The Mean Girls actress was the star of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow, playing a character previously acted by Madonna.

Though the 28-year-old troubled starlet appeared to be having the time of her life, her stage debut wasn’t flawless, according to critics.

According to reviews, Lohan stumbled on her lines several times during the second act of the play.

The Daily Beast said she fumbled her major speech in the production, causing the audience to laugh. In its review, though, the newspaper said many of her mistakes were understandable, as most plays are rough during the first night of previews.

Some reports say the actress, who has been in and out of rehab over the years, had to be told her lines by someone off stage and even had clues hidden in a prop.

While rehearsing the play, Lohan admitted how excited she was to The Telegraph, saying “I like the idea of being able to fight for what I lost.”

“I’m glad that I’m finding my way,” she continued. “I want to work for this next year, and then take some time, and hopefully fall in love, and hopefully have a family. Now I see all these kids that are living so fast. I think: I’ve been there. I want to hold them, and say: it’s not worth it.”
