Tribute! Madonna Pays Homage To Prince At The Billboard Music Awards 2016!
"I only want to see you in the purple rain!" Madonna belted out a tribute to Prince at the Billboard Awards on Sunday night in Nevada, and she wasn’t alone!
The legend was joined by Stevie Wonder as she honored Prince with a rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Purple Rain.” And her purple outfit was clearly inspired by him!
While the audience loved the performance, not everyone on social media was a fan, and many criticized why Madonna, 66, was chosen to lead his tribute. Even the BET network threw shade at Madonna, sharing an ad with Prince’s photo and the caption, “Yeah we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.”

But Madonna was impressed with what she did, and later posted an Instagram photo of her performance along with the caption, “An Epic Moment for Me to sing in honor of Prince with Stevie Wonder. #luckiestgirlintheworld, Such an AmaaaaaaaaaaIng Moment for Me! Thanks to all who made it happen!!!"
Prince passed away unexpectedly on April 21, just two days after attending a concert in Minneapolis.
