Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have kept their relationship under wraps ever since the birth of their daughter Esmeralda. But the couple rarely being seen together in public could have more to do with their rocky relationship than a desire to live a private life!

“They’re amicable in front of Esmeralda,” a source told OK! magazine. “But once she’s tucked into bed, the tensions surface. They spend all their time either arguing or in complete silence. It’s not pretty.”

Ryan and Eva are regulars at the romantic restaurant Little Dom’s in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood. But the insider revealed the actor has been dining solo. “I used to see Eva and Ryan there all the time, and they looked really happy together,” the source said. “But not anymore.”

The source of contention between the couple is Eva having all of her attention on her 1-year-old daughter. “She coops up with Esmeralda and won’t leave the house for days,” the insider confessed. “Ryan has all but given up trying to reason with her.”
