Funnyman Will Ferrell was in Miami on Feb. 29 to kick off the Joe Boxer South Beach Comedy Festival.
As part of the festival, the actor treated guests to an advanced screening of his movie, Casa de mi Padre, with co-stars Genesis Rodriguez and Diego Luna.
The comedian plays a Mexican in a parody of a telenovela in the film. “It technically really isn’t an homage to telenovelas,” says the actor. "Telenovela is kind of the broad description for it but it’s an homage to that, it’s an homage to the Mexican spaghetti western. It’s an homage to bad moviemaking, continuity mistakes. It’s an homage to overacting."
The film hits theaters on March 16.
