This week the entertainment news program Access Hollywood kicks off a 30-day countdown to their 3000th episode, which has veteran anchor Nancy O’Dell reminiscing about the good ole’ days. “Anytime you celebrate a milestone, it’s fun to look back,” she tells me.
Nancy’s hung around for the past 12 years, and it may have everything to do with Jack Nicholson. “He was famous for not talking on camera. I had only been there a year and the producers said try to get him to talk, so I went over and started talking to him and we wound up talking for 20 minutes. Every time after that, he would do an interview, but he wouldn’t do it with anyone else but me.”
Nancy’s cringing over revisiting her changing hairstyles from the last decade. “The big, southern pageant ‘do I use to tease up, oh horrid!” says the former Miss America contestant. “A few years in they wanted to cut it short because I had become the main anchor, and they decided to make me more anchor-y. My hair is actually curly and tends to poof up when it’s not weighted down and sure enough, that’s exactly what it did. I’m want them to put up a disclaimer when they show those photos.”
Not sure I could survive seeing all my former hairstyles paraded on TV. What a brave woman!
