It looks like Amy Winehouse has lost out on one of the most prestigious gigs in music to her fellow Brit Leona Lewis.

Amy, 24, was all set to follow in the footsteps of  Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey and Madonna by becoming one of the select few to record a Bond theme tune.

But movie bosses decided to ditch the troubled star after studio sessions with producer Mark Ronson last month came up with nothing, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

“I’m not sure Amy is ready to work on music yet,” Mark is reported to have said at the time.

Now Leona, 23, whose debut single and album have gone to Number One on both sides of the Atlantic, looks likely to cut the theme for Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig.

“It looks like Leona has finally won the race," a source told the paper.

“She is seen as one of the few candidates who has the right profile both sides of the pond to do it.
