Details on How to Get Tickets to Jackson Memorial Service

In a Friday morning press conference, the LAPD and organizers of next Tuesday's memorial service for Michael Jackson at L.A.'s Staples Center announced details on how to enter your name into the pool of possible attendees and encouraged people without tickets to stay home.

A total of 17,500 free tickets will be made available. 11,000 of those tickets will be for the ceremony itself at the Staples Center and 6,500 will be for a live simulcast at the nearby Nokia Theater.

Starting this morning and ending 6pm PT on Saturday, you can go to staplescenter.com to enter your name and information. On Sunday, 8,750 names will be drawn at random. Each name will be awarded two tickets.

Those who are chosen will be given a code to go to ticketmaster.com, where they will be told where to go to pick up their tickets and wristbands.

If you're not lucky enough to be chosen, the organizers of the event have arranged for a free live TV feed to be made available to all networks. The ceremony will be also be streamed online.

Because of the sheer cost and logistics involved in arranging this service, the LAPD has asked that, if you don't have a ticket, to please watch the event "from the comfort of your own home." There will be no broadcast on the screens outside the Staples center and only those with tickets will even be allowed within the vicinity of the arena on Tuesday.

They also announced that there will be no funeral procession before or after the event.
