She’s standing by her man — for now. Despite the revelation in November of his countless affairs and her consequent meetings with top divorce attorneys soon thereafter, Elin Nordegren has chosen to stick by Tiger Woods as he battles his demons at a rehab clinic for sex addiction.
“She sees she can’t leave him now,” the friend tells OK!. “She’s a big part of his potential recovery.”
Tiger is in a strict six-week program called the “Gentle Path.”
“A lot of it has to do with Tiger and [his mother] Tida’s early relationship; she was unsympathetic,” explains the friend. “Then Tiger found a wife who was the opposite — a professional nanny, for God’s sake! — but it was too late. He wasn’t able to get what he needed.”
To better understand Tiger’s compulsion, Elin has had three-hour-long sessions with experts at the clinic as often as three times a day.
“She tells me she’s learned that sex was a way to ease his anxiety, like having a drink,” says the friend.
