Ah, Las Vegas. I arrived in Sin City late last night to get a preview of LAVO, – the new restaurant/club the boys responsible behind succesful spots like Tao in Vegas, Marquee in New York and Dune in the Hamptons are opening in The Palazzo tonight. I’ve read that LAVO is Latin for ‘To bathe or cleanse.’ I guess that’s the reasonable explanation for the bathtubs where nearly naked women bathe one another, as part of the overall ambiance. Not that I think anyone needs the explanation. After coming out for the Tao Vegas opening three years ago, where they have women in bathtubs filled with rose petals, I felt the need to recreate the experience in my own bathtub. I’m very visually inspired.
Pre-tonight’s festivities I had a chance to sample the menu at with a late night dinner. From the cocktails – they have my new favorite, St. Germaine’s vodka martinis, to the kobe beef sliders and warm chocolate bread pudding and zeppollis for dessert, it was muy delicioso – and unlike the Canyon Ranch Spa where I just had breakfast, they don’t include calorie and fat counts on the menu
During dinner I caught a glimpse of Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), E (Kevin Connolly) and Kevin (Dillon) walking across the bar. It wasn’t until they got closer that I realized I was right that it was Kevin with the boys – but Federline rather than Dillon as I originally assumed! I should have realized sooner because it looks like K-Fed has been indulging in one too many zeppolles and I wasn’t the only one to notice he was sporting a little extra jiggle in the middle.
Afterwards we headed upstairs to the club where hottie Ryan Reynolds was hanging out with the boys while fiancé Scarlett Johansson is in Africa and Jamie Foxx kept a low profile, until…We stopped for a nightcap at Tao and Foxx got on the mic, holding a bottle of mysteriously red-hued Grey Goose. In between somewhat intermittently rapping to the music he announced to the crowd, or the ladies in the crowd, that their drinks were on him! Why? “Because I’m Jamie ‘Mother&#&@’ Foxx, that’s why.’ Well, there you have it.
Off to Tao Beach to catch some sun now (hear it’s to be 95 degrees today) and then out to exercise (walk through the hotels shopping) before primping for the big soiree tonight.
Viva Las Vegas.
