Singer Fantasia Barrino could ose her house in a debtor's auction next Monday, but officials tell the New York Post that she's ignoring the threat.
The American Idol winner owes a credit company $65,000 she used for back taxes in 2006. She made a payment on the loan in August 2007 in the amount of $10,000, but hasn't made any others since. The company won the right to auction her North Carolina home, worth $1.3 million, for the remainder of the payment.
Mecklenburg County sheriff's deputies, where the hosue is located, have reportedly attempted to contact Fantasia a dozen times, on the phone and by going to her house personally, with no response.
"We try very hard and give the defendant every opportunity to pay," Sgt. J.W. England, a supervisor of civil judgments tells the paper. "We try very hard and give the defendant every opportunity to pay,"
