Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was dealt a knockout punch on the Wednesday night's Dancing With the Stars elimination show. And after saying goodbye to the dance floor, he tells OK! he’ll be more than happy to re-enter the boxing ring.

Floyd is set to fight Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Dec. 8. “I’m going to go train for the fight, be at my best and try my hardest,” the 30-year-old pugilist told OK!. He’s not too broken up about his experience on the hit ABC reality show ending because he’s been carrying a heavy load, combining dance and fight training. “My main focus is my fight. I’d rather go now off Dancing, in the beginning of training, than at the end of training.

“Boxing has made me filthy rich. Without boxing, I wouldn’t have been on this show. I’m appreciative. I’m happy I had a chance to come here and react with the crowd. I feel tremendous.”

He enjoyed learning new skills from his professional partner, Karina Smirnoff: “I never had any experience in dancing, except for hip-hop dancing. Ballroom is totally different. Just learning some of the basic moves was great. Dancing with Karina, we both went through a lot of ups and downs, but we have a good friendship. Through thick and thin, we worked hard.”

Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, who earned a perfect score of 30 and is the show’s current front-runner, tells OK! she'll miss her boxer pal. “Floyd is so funny. He says some of the most out-of-the-blue things at the most random times that just cracks us up. I’m totally going to take the trip out to Vegas to watch him fight.”
