Golden Globe Nomimees Announced

British historical romance Atonement led the race for Golden Globes with seven nominations, among them best drama and acting honors for Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

There were six other films chosen in the best drama category, including American Gangster, Eastern Promises, No Country for Old Men, The Great Debaters, Michael Clayton and There Will Be Blood.

Nominated for best comedy or musical were the Beatles musical Across the Universe, Charlie Wilson's War, the Broadway adaptation of Hairspray, Juno and Tim Burton's filmic adaptation of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Best actress nominees included Keira Kightley for Atonement and Cate Blanchett for her title role as the British monarch in Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Blanchett also received a supporting-actress nomination for her turn as Bob Dylan in I'm Not There. Julia Roberts also received a best supporting-actress nod for her role in Charlie Wilson's War.

Philip Seymour Hoffman also doubled up on nominations, receiving one for lead actor in the The Savages and another for supporting actor for Charlie Wilson's War. Tom Hanks was also nominated for best lead actor for Charlie Wilson's War.
