It was a win-some, lose-some night for Grey's Anatomy on Tuesday, when the hit ABC hospital drama managed to win all three TV acting trophies at the People's Choice Awards, while the show itself was shut out of any wins.

Patrick Dempsey and newlywed Katherine Heigl took home the Male and Female TV Star awards, while co-star Chandra Wilson beat out the competition to win the Scene Stealer trophy. However, it was another medical series, Fox's House, that won the award for TV Drama.

Meanwhile, on the movie side of the winner's column, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise made out like a bandit, with Johnny Depp winning the Male Movie Star award, co-star Keira Knightley swashbuckling her way to victory in the Female Action Star category, and the film itself winning both the Best Movie and the oddly titled "Threequel" trophies.

Other big screen winners for the night were Reese Witherspoon for Female Movie Star, Drew Barrymore for Leading Lady, Joaquin Phoenix for Leading Man. Matt Damon won the Male Action Star award, while his buddies Brad Pitt and George Clooney were named Best Onscreen Match-Up.

Because of the ongoing writers' strike, there was no live gala ceremony for the People's Choice Awards this year. Instead, the 34th annual event was reduced to a pretaped announcement of the various nominees and winners.

This weekend's Golden Globes ceremony has suffered a similar fate, as NBC has cancelled the live event — second only to the Oscars in its ability to draw A-list celebrities — and replace it with a taped broadcast.
