When the EFG girls (and boy) invited me to a weekend in San Diego, better, to take the Patron Train down to San Diego, to attend the opening of The Hard Rock Hotel San Diego's new clubs 207 and Float,  I had to respectfullly and decline due to an already ambitious social calendar. Thankfully, my gorgeous colleague Patty Ramos was up to the challenge of a weekend of partying in relaxing Southern California.

Here she tells what happened behind the velvet ropes...

After work on Friday evening, I braved the 405, which was actually moving a bit faster than usual to make my way down to Orange County to meet my friends and carpool down to San Diego. We surprisingly made it to the Gas Lamp District in only an hour (we averaged about 90 mph). Right when we pulled up the the Hard Rock Hotel, there was a huge crowd outside. Everyone was dressed to the nines. It was as if they took Vegas crowds and transplanted them in San Diego's Downtown. There was no doubt this weekend was not going to disappoint.

There were two clubs opening at the hotel: 207, and Float. We first popped in to 207, and the place was packed. There were tons of people everywhere, and everyone was gathered around the bar located in the middle of the venue. That's exactly where we went to first to get our well-earned cocktail after a long work week. After getting our drinks, we saw Ja Rule performing, and made our way over to the stage area. He was flowing lyrics, music playing, and everyone was into it. Some were singing along, and some were dancing. I chose to dance. Lil Jon -sporting his signature black sunglasses and dreds- also had a table that was being hovered by tons of females who wanted to get crunk with Mr. Bojangles. Yeah!

After spending a couple of hours getting acquainted with 207, we wondered upstairs to Float. It was a little chilly outside, and I was exactly stoked about having to shiver in my little dress like the rest of the girls. But the view from the venue was breathtaking and worth dealing with the cold in the rooftop venue. After doing a bit of dancing and drinking, we worked up an appetite and went for a late night meal at Maryjane's Coffee Shop before putting ourselves to bed.

Saturday night we went big. We ventured to 207 where we got an invite from the great people at EFG to join them at their table next to DJ AM's booth. Mr. Ex-Nicole Richie never disappoints. He killed it on the turntables, and the club was going off. I also go the chance to talk to Holly Montag (Speidi's sister). It was refreshing to hear that she is pursuing screenwriting, instead of acting. Writers can be hot too you know... Shar Jackson (Britney Spear's ex-husband's baby mama) was in the building, but we did not have the pleasure of seeing the mom of two. I did get a chance to see Scott Weiland from the one and only Stone Temple Pilots. He performed on stage some classic STP songs, and the mini concert was quite a treat.

But like everything, all good things must come to an end. We officially clocked out for the night a bit past 3 a.m. after eating a delicious $2.99 slice of cheese pizza in the Gas Lamp District. The four of us played Tetris as we somehow managed to all fit in one king size bed! This weekend at the Hard Rock in San Diego was an ideal break from the city of angels. It was a nice breath of fresh air seeing different people, a gorgeous city, and visiting a couple of fun new venues. I look forward to coming back and having another great escape. But now back to La-La Land where my own queen size bed awaits me.
