In this week's GOOP, Gwyneth Paltrow's newsletter dedicated to "nourishing the inner aspect," the Oscar-winner shares her favorite books, and asks a few of her famous friends (Madonna!) to pony up what they're reading right now as well.

Gwyneth writes, "I feel a bit swallowed up in January, the days are so short, the sky is so close and gray. The best way to escape (not to mention the least expensive, most hassle-free way) is to curl up by the fire with an amazing, transportive novel."

When it comes to her favorite reads, Gwyneth lists Jane Eyre, Crime and Punishment, and The Sheltering Sky, which she credits Ethan Hawke for introducing her to when they made the film Great Expectations in 1995.

"I was feeling a bit in shock about what was happening with my life," she writes. "I hadn't found grace yet with the big changes that were afoot. Ethan correctly intuited that I needed some perspective, some grounding, a sort of literary bringing down to size. He gave me few of his favorite novels and this masterpiece was one of them."

Gwynnie also enlisted the help of some of her famous pals--who offered up some of their favorite books.

Madonna, who Gwyneth describes as "rules the world, is a loyal friend and a terrific mother," listed The Bad Girl by Mario Vargas Llosa, Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, and The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

Christy Turlington listed Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, and The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner.
