Hugh Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, may be 13 years older than her hubby, but their marriage has stayed strong since 1996.
The Aussie couple, who met Down Under on TV’s Correlli, are parents to adopted children Oscar, 9, and Ava, 4.
What’s the best parenting advice they’ve received?
“Make sure you have a date night just the two of you together, without the kids,” Hugh, 41, says during the Worldwide Orphans Foundation Benefit Gala held this week at NYC’s Capitale. “And don’t be afraid to tell your kids that you have no idea what you’re doing either.”

Making family time is also key, and Halloween is a holiday they can’t wait to celebrate.
“I’m going to be trick-or-treating, but I’ll actually be onstage performing in A Steady Rain on Saturday night," he says. "I’ll help them get dressed. My daughter this morning decided she wanted to be a muffin. I said, ‘what flavor?’ and she said ‘chocolate chip.’”
Hugh is here to honor Deborra-Lee, who is the founder of child advocacy foundation Orphan Angels. Also on hand: His Broadway co-star Daniel Craig, who is wearing a thick mustache. (Whoa – that’s a look.)
“One of the highlights is honoring this beautiful, amazing woman who happens to be my wife, and she does amazing work and has done for many years all over the world,” Hugh says. “It’s my great responsibility to honor her.”
What does Deborra-Lee appreciate most about Hugh?
“Hugh,” she laughs.
How do they make their marriage work?
“Keep reinventing it,” she says.
