Jake Gyllenhaal will show his support for sister Maggie and late friend Heath Ledger by attending the premiere of The Dark Knight, sources tell OK!.

The Oscar-nominated star, who is godfather to Heath's daughter Matilda, 2, wants to walk the July 14 red carpet as part of the tribute planned in Heath's memory.

“Jake is debating coming to the NYC premiere or waiting to be Maggie’s date at an L.A. screening,” a pal of the Gyllenhaals tells OK!. “He wants this to be something positive that will celebrate the role of a lifetime and a performance of which Heath was so proud.”

Heath is already drawing raves for his maniacal turn as The Joker. Maggie replaces Katie Holmes in the Batman Begins sequel as A.D.A. Rachel Dawson.

Should Jake, 27, attend the premiere, he won't be the only one in attendance for Heath. The Ledger family is scheduled to fly out from Australia for the event as well.
