Jaycee Dugard opens up to ABC's Diane Sawyer about what it was like to give birth at the age of 14 during her captivity in the backyard of Phillip Garrido, the convicted rapist who, with the help of his wife Nancy Garrido, kidnapped Jaycee and held her for 18 years. Jaycee, now 31, is telling her story of survival and the hell she endured at the hands of her kidnappers in Antioch, Calif.

In her first TV interview, Jaycee revealed details about the birth of her first daughter with Garrido, Starlite. She also mothered a second daughter with her captor four years later named Angel.

Jaycee said the "very painful " process of giving birth seemed to vanish when she saw her daughter.

"She was beautiful, and I felt like I wasn't alone anymore," the 31-year-old mom told Diane, via Radar Online. "I had somebody that was mine. I wasn't alone."

Jaycee continued: “And I knew I couldn't let anything happen to her. I don't know how I was going to do that, but I did."

When asked how she survived 18 years in captivity, Jaycee answered, "I don't know. I can't imagine being beaten to death, but you can't imagine being kidnapped and raped. You just do what you have to do to survive."

Jaycee's mother, Terry Probyn, also joins her daughter in the ABC special and apologizes for not giving Jaycee a kiss goodbye on the day she was kidnapped.

"I'd been late to work three Monday mornings in a row and I was focused on myself, trying to get myself out that door, so I wouldn't be late to work," Terry said. "I chose not to go and kiss my girls goodbye that morning. I wanted to be on time."

Jaycee, who maintains a steady composure during her meeting, doesn't fault her mom for anything.

"How could you have known I'd be kidnapped, mom? You cant beat yourself up about that," she assured Terry.
