John Mayer Breaks Down On Stage After Controversial Playboy Interview

John Mayer broke down on stage Wednesday over criticism from a Playboy interview in which he used a racial slur, described sleeping with Jessica Simpson as "crazy" and confessed that he'll always love Jennifer Aniston.

As he performed "Gravity" towards the end of his Nashville concert, he stopped playing, apologizing to his bandmates for the interruption, reports E! Online.

"I quit the media game. I'm out. I'm done," he announced, choking up as he spoke. "I just want to play my guitar."

Then, after a lengthy pause, he returned to his guitar solo.

John spent yesterday posting remorseful Twitters for his X-rated, no-holds-barred interview in which he managed to offend women and African-Americans — not to mention his ex-girlfriends.

He wrote a statement in a series of Tweets last night: "Re: using the 'N word' in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying

"to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it,

"because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.
