Putting on a united front, Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes — who separated just last month — took their children to school today in the Big Apple. Neither Sam nor Kate were wearing their wedding rings as they helped son, Joe, 6, and her daughter (from first marriage to Jim Threapleton), Mia, 9, into their car outside their NYC apartment. As their adorable son Joe waved to the photogs, Sam and Kate had very pleasant expressions across their faces.
The couple amicably ended their seven-year marriage last month, but are trying to keep the family unit together and maintain normalcy for their kids.

“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” their lawyers said in a statement when their split was announced. “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
