Lauren Conrad started her stint on reality TV back in high school, as the star of MTV's Laguna Beach. Years later, fans are still watching her take on love, life and a career on TV, a fact that is not lost on the young The Hills star.

"It's coming to a point where I love this show so much, but I'm ready to kind of walk away," she tells Extra. "I've been doing it for five years now. Five years on TV is a really, really long time."

Living a life under the magnifying glass has taken a toll on LC's relationships, she adds, something that's already hard enough without a camera pointed straight at it.

"It's more difficult when not only everyone knows about your problems, but they make them worse because things escalate and things get twisted," she reveals. "It's hard to have an actual friendship be torn apart in the media."

And now Whitney Port, one of her best friends on the show, is branching out and going on her own in a new show, The City. LC says she couldn't be happier for her.

"I'm so proud of her for this next show," she gushes. "I think that in The Hills she never really let them film her personal life. She hasn't really experienced the whole 'put your personal life on TV' thing."

Don't get your hopes up for a cameo, though.

"Not that I know of," she says of plans for her to appear on The City. "That's Whitney's deal."

But Lauren will be enjoying the other side of reality TV and keeping an eye on her pal – as a fan!

"I'll be watching," she says.
