Oprah Winfrey‘s latest made-for-television flick For One More Day, based on Mitch Albom‘s teary best-seller, follows a man’s (Michael Imperioli) chance to spend one more day with his deceased mother (Ellen Burstyn). The profound storyline prompted other celebs to ponder the deep question of who they would spend one more day with — and give TV’s Extra a variety of answers.
Songbird Mary J. Blige chose her late cousin, whose life was cut short at the tender age of 16. "He was shot in the chest and I didn’t get a chance to see him," she tells Extra. "I was in London."
Also choosing to stay in the past is Damages star Glenn Close, but the esteemed actress didn’t pick someone from her life — she chose Queen Elizabeth I. On the other end, Tyra Banks and Sheryl Crow subscribe to Rent‘s tagline of "No Day but Today," as the model-turned-talk show host and the singer/songwriter appreciate the present as a gift.
"It would probably be my mom," Tyra tells Extra. "And I’d be like, ‘No pity party, mom. Let’s just laugh and giggle and eat a lot of barbeque.’ "
A new mom to baby boy Wyatt, whom she adopted in May, Sheryl says she would spend every second with her little guy. "Im just smitten with my 7-month-old."
Providing some levity, funny gal Tina Fey would rather comp her "one more day" as a personal one.
"I would probably get as many people from my family in one place as possible and I would probably eat as much as possible," she says. "Would it be weird if I took a nap on my actual day?"
Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom’s for One More Day premieres Sunday on ABC.
