Ready-to-pop Holly Madison, who is due Sunday, can’t wait to welcome a little girl into her life with beau Pasquale Rotella.
“I’m most excited about all the outfits, definitely all the girly things,” the Playboy model and reality star, 34, tells me from her home in Las Vegas. “It looks like it‘s so much fun to shop for a girl than a boy. laughs When you walk into Babies R Us, the girls’ side pops out at me. I’m definitely a girly-girl. She already has a bigger wardrobe than I do! I’ve bought so many things. I’m very excited to be starting off with a girl.”

Thoughts on names?
“Definitely not traditional,” she says. “I’ve always known I wanted to have an unusual name for my baby. We have several that we like, so we’ll probably wait until we see her until we pick the final one, and then save the others for babies in the future.”
For now, the parents-to-be are putting the finishing touches on preparations for their little one.
“I have a couple baby apps,” she says. “I’ve been reading all the books. I have a couple baby apps on my phone that have all the checklists. There’s this great center called Belly Bliss out here in Vegas, and I’ve been taking mommy classes out there – I’ve been taking breastfeeding classes, and Baby Basics. You can come down and get your car seats checked, and see if they’re installed properly.”

Plus, there’s the all-important nursery, with the Alice in Wonderland theme.
“We have all the furniture,” she says. “It’s basic white Pottery Barn stuff, and I painted the murals on the wall myself. I want you to feel like you’re Alice when you walk in. There are tall flowers on the wall, and the tall weeds from the caterpillar scene, and the hedges from maze scene.”
Another way the couple is making way for their princess is by making proper pet arrangements for their rescue mixes Napoleon, Josephine and Louis.
“I prepared the house,” says Holly, who has launched Lucky Pet Products, a line of fur friendly toys. “All the dog doors are in good working order, the fences are good, and that everything is set up perfectly for the dogs because once the baby comes, that’s the last thing I’m going to have to worry about, is do my dogs have good access outdoors and are they safe and they’re not going to get into the street.”

In fact, Holly feels like they’ve taught her what she might be like as a parent — and she’s determined to fix it.
“I’ve been critical with myself about the way I’m handling my dogs, and ‘am I firm enough with my dogs and strict enough with my dogs and doing the best thing for them?’ I think it’s definitely a good preparation for a child. You can’t compare a pet to a child, obviously, because it’s such a huge difference, but we all have friends that we’ve seen take on a pet they can’t handle.”
She continues, “It definitely is a responsibility, and a hurdle you have to pass before being ready for a kid.”
The pups can sense a major change is taking place.
“The pets have actually started misbehaving a little bit,” she says. “They’ve been going to the bathroom inside when they used to not do that. I think they’re protesting the baby.”
She adds, “I’ve been a little more of a disciplinarian with them than I have been in the past, because I’ve always been that sucker parent that’s really lax on my dogs, like if they’re halfway potty-trained, that’s OK. But I’ve y been starting to get more strict with them, because if I can’t even control my dogs, how am I going to control my kid? I’m practicing on my dogs and getting strict with them, and I’ve been trying to get all their training down before the baby comes so that they’re ready.”
For now, Holly and Pasquale are enjoying their final hours as a twosome.
“He’s awesome,” she says. “He’s always offering to rub my belly and rub my back. He’s always offering to take care of me. He’s like ‘if you ever have a craving, I’ll run out to Jack In The Box at 2 in the morning.’ I’m like ‘don’t you dare.’ I’ve been good about not getting into cravings, so that was the one thing I banned him from doing.”
When the baby arrives, Holly is certain her man will make her proud.
“I think he’ll be great,” she says. “He’s definitely at a point in his life that he’s ready for this and he’s super-excited. He wants to have lots of kids.”

Soon after, Holly will launch into full-blown wedding mode.
“We definitely want to get married — probably in the summer,” she says. “We want to wait until the baby comes before I start planning the wedding, because I want to have fun planning the wedding. He was like ‘I’ll just put the wedding together, that’s what I do, I do big events, I’ll put the wedding together, in like, three months.’ I was like ‘don’t you even think about it!’”
She adds, “That’s half the fun of a wedding — a girl wants to plan her own wedding. I want to enjoy the process, so after the baby comes, then I’m going to meet with a wedding planner and we’re going to start something. Hopefully I can get that done by this coming summer.”
What a busy time! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Holly this year.
