Maintaining a 50-lb. weight loss is no simple task for Jordin Sparks.
“I take it day-by-day,” the American Idol winner, 23, tells me during Dress For Success Worldwide’s Something To Share Gala held at the Grand Hyatt in NYC. “Each day, you’ve got to tackle it on its own. I’ve been working out still, as much as I can, wherever I can, and making sure I make better choices, although there are still days when I do indulge.”
During the event, Jordin honors mom Jodi with a Toast To Our Mothers dedication, presented by Lia Sophia.
How did she teach her to dress for success?
“Oh my gosh, my mom and my nana right there, they were always like ‘accentuate the positive,’” Jordin says. “No matter where you were, how you felt about yourself that day, what event you were going to, as long as you accentuated the positive, you could make yourself shine. That’s what they taught me.”
For Jordin, that meant one thing.
“My positive was this. [points to waist] My waist—right here. A belt, or an A-line dress—that was always my go-to for sure.”
