Just because feisty Drita D’Avanzo throws punches on Mob Wives doesn’t mean she allows her own home to descend into mayhem when the cameras aren’t rolling.

After enduring a split from hubby Lee, the single reality star, who is mom to Aleeya, 11, and Gizelle, 4, runs a tight ship that includes filtering her kids’ TV viewing habits.

“It’s funny because I am very strict,” she tells me this week in the limousine on her way to her Signings and Sightings event at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. “I don’t know if people know that, but I am a very strict mom. My daughters do not watch the show. They’re not allowed to watch Jersey Shore. Actually, they’re only allowed to watch a limited time of television, and it’s something educational on Nickelodeon or whatever.”

She continues, “My daughter, she hates me for it, because she’s 11 and she’s in school and she’s like ‘they can do this, and they watch that,’ and you know what? I don’t care.”

For Aleeya, not being allowed to watch Jersey Shore has caused problems.

“This is the funny part,” Drita says. “l’m friends with Pauly, I’m friends with Snooki, Vinny — I know his family; I’m close with his father — my mom knew his father for twenty years. He’s a close friend of mine, too. I know them, I talk to them, but my kids can’t watch the show. It’s so funny, my daughter has the privilege to be able to be able to talk to them or meet them, when other kids can’t, but she’s never seen the show.”

She adds, “The reason why is because, if you watch the show, no way in hell should a child watch it. Period. I will argue to death on that. Listen, my friends will get mad I’m saying this, because their kids watch the show and they’re OK with it, and I’m not judging them for that, but not when it comes to me. My kids will never watch Jersey Shore, and if they do, they’re going to have to sneak and watch it.”

What exactly is so bad about it?

“It’s not for kids," she says. "You’re going to have kids watching things they shouldn’t even be seeing at this age. They shouldn’t be seeing drunks and fist-fighting and sleeping around and everybody partying like they are. They aren’t at an age where they’re doing that, so you shouldn’t be 11 — watching it and experiencing it like that for the first time is awful.”

Catch Drita on Mob Wives, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on VH1.
