Now that Nick Lachey and wife Vanessa welcomed son Camden John into the world Sept. 12, he can turn to his fellow 98 Degrees bandmates for parenting advice.

Younger brother Drew is a father of two, and bandmate Jeff Timmons has a brood of five little ones, which includes two stepchildren and three children. (The oldest is 13, and the youngest is ten months!)

“I think Nick’s going to be great,” Jeff tells me. “He’s great with my kids, and he’s a great uncle to Drew’s kids.”

What would he tell him?

“Every kid’s different,” Jeff says. “Every parent has their own thing. My whole thing is: look, as much as you’re a parent, be a friend to your kids and listen to them. Listen to what they say. Let them know that they have an open line of communication with you.”

One thing the youngsters will enjoy is new music from 98 Degrees, whose hits included Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche), My Everything, Thank God I Found You, This Gift, I Do (Cherish You), The Hardest Thing, Because of You and Invisible Man.

They'll also be treated to a reunion tour, which will follow performances last month on the Today show and at Hershey Park's Mixtape Festival. The gigs marked their first time performing together in eleven years.

“Nick’s had a baby, Drew’s doing Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars, and I’m touring my old show, Wired, that I did in Las Vegas. I think that we’re going to get all that done, get Nick acclimated with his baby and get him time with his family, and just when DWTS is winding down, then I think we’ll start recording new music and possibly tour next summer.”

Hm, how do the spouses get along?

“They all get along great,” Jeff says. “Vanessa’s from Louisiana and my wife’s from Louisiana. It’s cool. They’re all excited that we’re doing this again. I think they’re more excited than we are. laughs”
