Rosario Dawson steams up the August cover of Shape magazine, showing off her toned bod in a hot white swimsuit! The 32-year-old, who is currently starring in The Zookeeper, gives a heartfelt interview about her fitness and diet routine and the loss her beloved grandmother and recent split from long-term boyfriend, French DJ Mathieu Schreyer.
Less then two weeks after she returned from the Cannes Film Festival promoting Zookeeper with Kevin James, Rosario was faced with the death of a family member — her grandmother, Mima.
But she feels trying to maintain a strong attitude during tough times is a necessity.
“Part of me wants to crawl into a hole and cry because nothing else matters, but that’s just not an option," she tells Shape, in an interview just two weeks after her grandmother's death.
She also used exercise as a way of handling her grief.
“It’s meditative and calming to get your body in motion,” she says. “But getting back in the saddle can be the hardest thing.”
Rosario also shared that growing up, her mother was always a health-conscious person, which helped her develop proper eating habits.
“My mom was practicing vegan and raw diets years ago, so I understood eating healthy at a young age. We even belonged to the local co-op," she shares. "I mean, we had Spam too, because we were poor and had to take whatever we could get, but we stopped eating white bread when I was 6.”
