Sabra Johnson barely got any screen time during So You Think You Can Dance’s audition rounds, but that didn’t stop the 20-year-old contemporary dancer from winning over voters and snagging the title of America’s Favorite Dancer on last night’s live finale, along with becoming the show’s first female winner. ‘It was everything, and I just wanted to hug everyone,’ she tells OK! of her emotional win. ‘I’ll forever be the first girl, and that’s really cool.’ Of her virtual anonymity going into the first competition round, Sabra says, ‘It made me want to work even harder because nobody knew me yet.’ Sabra learned how to throw herself around on stage while working with her first partner Dominic Sandoval, who dropped her several times during the competition. ‘With all that adrenaline going, nothing really hurts,’ she assures OK!. But the 5’1 powerhouse is being a lot more cautious with her $250,000 grand prize. ‘I’m going to save it,’ she says. ‘After taxes, it won’t be that much. And I’ll probably take my family on vacation.’ Sabra and the show’s top ten dancers will head out on the road for the show’s national tour next month, so she’s making now plans to catch up on some much-needed shut-eye. ‘I can not wait to sleep in,’ she exclaims. ‘But I’m afraid if I start it will be really hard to come back.’By Delaina Dixon
