Adam Brody's comments about his In the Land of Women co-star and Twilight super-star Kristen Stewart caused a lot of hate mail for the actor on the Web. But the lovable Seth Cohen is backing down and admitting he was "ungentlemanly."

Adam recently appeared on Diablo Cody's online show, Red Band Trailer, and was asked if he enjoyed his celebrity or would rather be left alone as Diablo said Kristen had expressed.

“It’s a shame because at certain times it’s amazing. I don’t really give a s**t about the Lakers but if you did you could have nice seats – there are plenty of perks. It’s only gotten worse being a celebrity,” Adam told Diablo. “But at the same time I don’t have a lot of patience for people who moan about it too much ’cause there are many things you could do and you know you mentioned… Kristen and it’s like quit, f***ing quit. You don’t need to be an actress. If it’s that much of a problem, there’s the door.”

Since his interview, Adam's girlfriend, Lorene Scafaria, suggested his comments were taken out of context.

But when MTV News sat down with the upcoming The Romantics actor, they asked Adam himself whether he thought his comments were out of context.

"I, no, I just, I, this is horrible," Adam said, getting visibly uncomfortable by the issue. "It wasn't taken out of context. I saw the episode and thought I sounded like an idiot. I did."

"Regardless of how anyone else took anything, I would think that sounds very ungentlemanly and I sounded like a jack***."
