A year before he died, Corey Haim was pursuing a new career in music that he hoped would bring him back into the public eye in a positive way. E! News posted exclusive video footage of Corey singing "Mend Me" with musician Gerard "G Tom Mac" McMahon.

Corey was working on a reality show project titled Lost Boy Found before his death that would have followed his pursuit of career in music, but was never sold to a television or cable network, E! News reports.

"I had taken it upon myself to help Corey seek recovery," Gerard explained, who first met Corey when working on music for The Lost Boys. "I wrote a song and said to him, ‘Why don't you try and write some lyrics with me, as I know music creativity to be a brilliant way of therapy.' "

"The positive outcome of sharing this with Corey was seeing how full of bliss he was from getting to be a part of the creative musical process," Gerard told E! News. "I could actually sincerely see that music opened him up to a better place."

Gerard hopes the single can be released sine day and have the proceeds benefit people struggling with substance abuse.

"Only I can mend me," Haim sings in the video below. "Only I can turn this shattered soul into a possibility/You don't have to defend me/This time I own up to myself/This is my responsibility."
