Everyone is scared for the future of Dunder Mifflin without everyone’s favorite boss, Michael, played so perfectly by Steve Carell. Steve finally gave a definitive answer last night on The Late Show With Craig Ferguson telling the host the reason for departing The Office after this upcoming season was that he wanted to spend more time at home with his family.

“Honestly, to spend more time with my family,” Steve told Craig.

The host replied, “That’s usually what politicians say when they’re caught doing something with their pee-pees … He says, ‘Well, I’m retiring, but not because of what you think — just to spend a little more time with my family.’ “

Steve maintains that the hit NBC comedy is “going to be fine,” after his exit.
