Paul McDonald brought his stage-hopping dance moves back to American Idol last night with his performances of “Old Time Rock and Roll” from Risky Business. We were hoping he would do a pants-less Tom Cruise slide across the stage, but Paul stuck to his moves — which have been dubbed “drunk uncle dancing” in the blogosphere — and had some help from a tambourine and a blonde sax player. How did it turn out?

Like every week for Paul, he received positive feedback from the judges, but he was guitar-less and goofy again.

Steven Tyler: “I love your crazy wild abandonment.”

Jennifer Lopez: “It’s like watching a diamond in the rough and every week, a little bit more polish. So great to watch.”

Randy Jackson: “You’re doing it hard up there. Dude, I love it. You’re definitely an artist.”

Will his moves and lack of guitar hurt him? He also went first, which is sometimes the death spot for contestants. And then there was that black flower suit.

Idol bloggers are also predicting Paul will get the boot, and Peter Facinelli didn’t Tweet an endorsement to his 1.8 million followers this week. But he still might get the Twilight fan vote, which could be a huge help!

Regardless of what happens tonight, we love him no matter what! Catch the performance below!
