When it comes to etiquette, manners and overall good behavior, even celebrities need help navigating the rough waters of stardom! It’s a good thing Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of the Real Housewives of New York is joining forces with OK! to school them on the right thing to do! In a rough situation, we just ask, “What Would the Countess Do?” This week the Countess tackles the issue of being a reality star and a mom, as well as dealing with the difficulty of a public break-up.
Kendra Wilkinson recently said she wouldn’t do Dancing with the Stars because it would take away from her time with her son. However, Kate Gosselin has eight kids and is competing on the show. How do you achieve the perfect balance between work and family?
I think it’s a personal and a financial choice to work outside the home after having children. Kendra has a newborn baby so it’s understandable that she wouldn’t want to leave his side; while Kate is the sole breadwinner for her family and has to work to support eight kids. Both are making decisions that they feel is best for their own family. My children are teenagers and are very responsible and independent. I am comfortable with my decision to pursue my career but I stayed home with them when they were young. There is no perfect balance between work and family. They say it takes a village to raise a child. In my case, it takes really good domestic help!
Sandra Bullock pulled out of the London premiere of The Blind Side after reports of her husband’s infidelities. How does someone that is the center of attention deal with a private, personal situation like this one?
I respect Sandra’s decision to pull out of the The Blind Side opening to deal with her family issues in private but I wonder how her cancellation has affected her colleagues and her fans. Having gone through a public break-up, I found that hiding at home didn’t work for me. I had to get back out there and live my life for my children and for myself. Hopefully, Sandra and Jesse will be able to work out their differences and remain a family. The early days of dealing with betrayal are the hardest. I wish her the best. I’m one of her biggest fans.
