French Actress Maria Schneider, Marlon Brando's 'Last Tango in Paris' Costar, Dies at 58

Maria Schneider, a French actress best known for her role as Marlon Brando's love interest in Last Tango in Paris, has died after battling a long illness. She was 58.

Her family told Le Figaro newspaper, via Reuters, that she passed away in Paris this morning after battling a long "unnamed" illness.

When she was only 19 years old, Maria landed her second screen role opposite Oscar winning Actor Marlon Brando. He was 48 at the time.

The sexual content for the film was controversial during its 1972 release.

And Brando wasn't her only bigtime Hollywood co-star. In 1975 she appeared opposite Jack Nicholson in The Passenger.
