In the clip, Damon explains exactly what drew him to the part, saying that the complexity of Watney as a character and the film being a “love letter to science” were two of the facts that made him want to join the project!
But his dedication to bringing Watney to life wasn’t all that is celebrated in the clip, with Damon’s engaging sense of humor also being highlighted in a few scenes from the set!
