During a secrets week segment on The Talk, host Julie Chen revealed that her grandfather was a polygamist who had nine wives. Before sharing the news, she showed her fellow co-hosts and the audience members an old photo of what she said was only a fraction of her family. She then pointed out her grandfather and revealed that he had multiple wives and "countless" mistresses.
Julie explained that six of his nine wives bore children, making her grandfather, who died at the age of 62 due to lung cancer, a father to 11 kids.
She continued to reveal to the group that her uncle was also a polygamist and had a total of 20 children with his four wives. As the hosts listened intently, Julie discussed that her grandmother married her grandfather under a prearranged marriage and that his polygamist lifestyle was actually very hard on her.

So why did she keep it a secret for so long? Julie reportedly revealed that this is something that brings shame to her family and that her mother actually hid it from her for a very long time.
