Giuliana Rancic appeared on the Today show this morning to announce the sad news that she’s battling breast cancer. But Giuliana wants her story to help other women realize the importance of getting a mammogram.

OK! NEWS: GIULIANA RANCIC MAKES SHOCKING ANNOUNCEMENT — “I HAVE BREAST CANCER”

In a very emotional interview with Ann Curry on Today, Giuliana tearfully announced she learned she is in the early stages of breast cancer after having a mammogram done before undergoing her third try of IVF in her quest to start a family.

“It was just a kick in the stomach,” Giuliana said of being told she has breast cancer. “That was the hardest day… (the emotions are) what you expect but so much more. It was incredible instant sobbing, and it was like the world just crashed down around me. I couldn’t believe it, 36 years old, no family history.”

The E! host said she will have surgery this coming week and then she has radiation for six-and-a-half weeks.

Giuliana said her husband Bill Rancic has been incredibly supportive during this difficult time.

“Bill is unbelievable. The best thing about Bill is he lets me cry when I want to cry. He doesn’t say, ‘Hey, look at that person who’s worse off than you are.’ He just lets me feel what I’m feeling and I think that’s very important for a spouse to do.”

But Giuliana says she wanted to share her story on Today so that she can spread her message to other women.

“A lot of us think we’re invincible… but we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list,” she said. “I had a friend call me yesterday, and she said, ‘I’m so sorry, can I do anything for you?’ And I said, ‘Just call your doctor tomorrow and make an appointment. That’s what you could do for me’… I will be okay because I found it early.”

And she isn’t going to stop trying to have a baby.

“I’m not going to give up,” she said. “I want that baby…. That baby will have saved my life.”
