Rebecca Black appeared on Good Morning America on Friday morning to discuss her YouTube “hit” song “Friday.” And she’s defending her song and her singing voice against the haters saying, “I think I have talent on some level.”
Rebecca’s YouTube music video has earned her over 16 million views and landed her the No. 31 spot on iTunes Top 100.
But Rebecca’s success isn’t exactly a reason to celebrate as Good Morning America reports she’s the target of online bullying with many hurtful comments made about her song.
Does she feel like she’s dreaming?
“I really do,” Rebecca, 13, said. “I can’t tell whether I’m awake or not.”
“After seeing it go from 4,000 views to 70,000 views in one night and then waking up to see it was at 200,000 views, that’s when I knew it was going to be big.”
According to GMA, Rebecca’s parents paid an unknown amount of money to record Rebecca’s song and video with Ark Music Factory.
But the song has been labeled by some as the “Worst Song Ever.”
When read back comments found online telling Rebecca to go “cut herself” or “get an eating disorder,” Rebecca said, “It doesn’t bother me.”
“I think I have talent on some level,” she explained to defend herself. “I don’t think I’m the worst singer, I don’t think I’m the best singer.”
