Christina El Moussa And Ant Anstead Had 'Conflicts' After Their Baby Was Born

It seems like Christina El Moussa was not in the honeymoon phase anymore with her husband, Ant Anstead. In fact, the two — who announced their split on Friday, September 18, after less than two years of marriage — "started having conflicts" after their baby, Hudson, was born, a source told PEOPLE.

"Christina found it difficult to balance everything," the insider said, adding that "their marriage was struggling." As a result, the HGTV star, 37 — who shares Brayden, 5, and Taylor, 10, with ex Tarek El Moussa — was "lonely and unhappy" in her relationship. (Anstead shares Archie, 14, and Amelie, 16, with ex-wife Louise Herbert.)

"She never expected to get a divorce," the insider shared. "But she is doing OK and focusing on the kids."

The TV personality revealed the shocking news via Instagram. "Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate,” the mom of three captioned a snapshot of herself walking along the beach with Anstead, 41. "We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority. We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future."

The two started dating back in October 2017 and got married in a winter wonderland-theme ceremony in the backyard of their Newport Beach, California, home in December 2018.

In March 2019, El Moussa revealed she was expecting baby No. 3. "It’s so amazing that we get to raise a child together," she told PEOPLE last year. "All of the kids are so excited. I love all the fun chaos and a full house. I always thought I would only have two, and now I’ll have five!" The pair welcomed Hudson in September 2019.

These days, El Moussa is putting her family first. So much so, the former flames celebrated her daughter Taylor's birthday, despite going their separate ways.

"Happy 10th Birthday to my sweet, smart, beautiful girl," the Christina on the Coast star wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, September 22. "Taylor you light up my life and challenge me in all the best ways. Not a day goes by where you don’t tell me how much you love me and hug me tight."
