2 People Arrested After Dismembered Body Found In California Golf Course Pond

Kimberly Machleit and Donald Anderson have been arrested after a body was found dismembered in a lake at a San Luis Obispo County golf course, KTLA reported on Tuesday, September 22. 

Earlier this week, remains were discovered by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office dive team at a Nipomo golf course after they conducted a search, officials said in a news release.

"As a result of the search, the suspected missing person’s remains were recovered from a lake on the property," Raquel Zick, the sheriff’s spokeswoman, said. 

Authorities did not reveal the identity of the victim, who has been missing since 2018. It’s unclear how the person died.

On September 22, detectives served a warrant in the 2200 block of Professional Parkway in Santa Maria, California, for Machleit, 35, and Anderson, 37.

Machleit was arrested on a charge of murder with special circumstances and conspiracy and was booked at Santa Barbara County Main Jail, while Anderson, faces a count of accessory to murder. Machleit is being held on $2 million bail, while Anderson is being held on $1 million bail, officials said. The pair are both residents of Santa Maria.

"It appears that the victim was murdered in the city of Santa Maria and dismembered before being disposed of at the golf course in December 2018," the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said.

Machleit, Anderson and another man were arrested last month in Santa Maria on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale and possessing firearms. However, the three of them were bailed out.
