Actor Reveals Heartbreaking New Details of His Friend Cory Monteith's Death

Cory Monteith's death continues to devastate those who loved him.

“There was a group of us who were there for the whole finding out up until now, and it’s been very, very strange,” Cory's friend, Kevin Zegers, says in the August issue of Bello. “It was a heavy and weird month."

Kevin, who shares that he took some of Cory's ashes with him back to Los Angeles after the funeral, can relate to what his friend was going through when he died.

"It’s a f–king horrible disease,” says the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones actor, referring to his own struggles with addiction. “By the grace of God, I’m not dead."

"I think it’s something that constantly reveals itself as something that happens to people who, for whatever reason, don’t get well, and it was by no lack of him trying or anyone else trying to help him get well," continues Kevin.

"Eventually, your body just says, ‘No, it’s enough.’ But it doesn’t make it any less sad or tragic. I think the problem people had was that he looked healthy and he never showed the struggles he was having.”

Now Cory's closest circle of friends is left with just memories. "Cory was the nicest man I knew," says Kevin.
