NEWSAiF Honors Heath with Scholarship Fund

Australians in Film, the preeminent organization for expatriate Australians in the entertainment industry, announced on Thursday a new scholarship in memory of Heath Ledger.
The Heath Ledger Scholarship will be awarded to an emerging Aussie actor, for up to $10,000, plus a return airfare from Australia, to pursue their career in the U.S.
Before his untimely death last January, Heath Ledger was an Ambassador for AiF. The new scholarship is supported by his family.
"We as a family are pleased with the establishment and progress of the AiF scholarship award named in honor of our much loved and generous son, Heath," said Heath's dad Kim Ledger. "As a result of this scholarship, a talented Australian actor will gain valuable assistance to support their personal goals, and an opportunity for recognition in the very tough U.S. film industry."
Applications are available now at www.australiansinfilm.org and will be accepted from Oct. 1 to Nov. 28, 2008. Film director Greg Jordan will join the five person judging panel.

"Broke Aussie actors in L.A. form a tradition that goes all the way back to Errol Flynn," said Jordan. "Heath was definitely part of that tradition and this scholarship is something he would have been proud to have his name associated with."
