AMA Winner Taylor Swift Shares Personal Rituals & Gives Advice to Fellow Musicians

It's been an eventful fall for country star Taylor Swift!

A few weeks ago the Speak Now singer was named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards, then this past Sunday, Taylor took home three statues at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Album and Favorite Female Artist.

"I just am so shocked and stunned and absolutely out of my mind happy about this," the singer told reporters that night at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre. "The fact that the fans have been there for me more and more each year, it just blows my mind."

Taylor has been cleaning up at awards shows since her self-titled debut album rocked the charts in 2006.

An AMAs veteran, Taylor took the time after her big wins to dish with reporters about her pre-award show rituals.

"For me, it's really about trying to pick something that's a little different to wear than what we've always done, but also something that's really comfortable that you can kind of have fun in and dance in."

"That was one of my favorite things about tonight," Taylor added, "it was a really fun night."

At only 21, Taylor has already racked up 90 awards, including 10 AMA wins, four Grammys, 13 Teen Choice Awards and 11 Billboard Music Awards. This has made Taylor a perfect idol for up-and-coming musicians.

"I think the advice I would give is to see your hero and get inspiration from all your heroes but try to do something different than your heroes."

Taylor added, "I guess I would say, Learn an instrument because it just makes everything easier. If you're going to go play out — it helps if you have a guitar and can accompany yourself."
