Not only does Amy Adams dish about her pregnancy and baby name during the Leap Year premiere held Wednesday at NYC’s Directors Guild of America Theater, but she also shares a few love lessons for women waiting for their happily-ever-after to begin.

Fiance Darren Le Gallo lovingly sweeps the actress off her feet, and plants a kiss on her in front of photographers. So romantic!

The ravishing redhead would expect nothing less from the man she met in acting class in 2001. The actor asked for her hand in marriage in 2008.

“He put a ring on it,” the Carolina Herrera-wearing star, 35, says. “He had come into town, and planned a very romantic dinner. He had a whole proposal in mind, and I wanted to go see a play, so he had to improvise. He did a great job.”

Would she recommend the woman pop the question to a beau who might be a little shy?

“I think it depends on the relationship,” Amy says. “If the guy’s pretty laidback about it, then absolutely they should go ahead and propose. But I know my guy is a perfectionist -- and he was gonna propose.”

One lesson she’s learned is not to bring on the bling too soon in a relationship.

“I‘ve probably given more jewelry than received,” she says. “I gave a gold necklace to a guy, and I know it was really trendy at the time. It was a really thick gold chain. I spent a lot of money on it, but I wouldn’t recommend it because it didn’t work out.”

Costar Matthew Goode admires Amy’s ability to chill. While filming the romantic comedy, the cast could be found hanging out at the pub located in Dublin’s Merrion Hotel.

“What I really like is the fact that she’s very relaxed,” he tells me. “At the end of a hard day’s work, she’s the first person to the bar. She’ll have a pint of Guinness and sit down by the fire. A lot of actors in general get home and they’re going straight to bed, going to sleep after they whack on their hemorrhoid cream. But Amy – not so much.”

What will she be like as a mom?

“Dreadful,” Matthew jokes. “Most Hollywood kids turn out to be crack addicts and idiots. No, she’ll be great. She’s got a lovely future husband who is really supportive. She and Darren will be fine. She comes from a big family as well, so it will be easy.”

Leap Year is in theaters Friday.
