Conan O'Brien is keeping his new gig all in the family. According to TVGuide, Andy Richter is reuniting with O'Brien as the announcer of The Tonight Show when the Late Night host takes over.
Richter first served as sidekick when O'Brien took over for David Letterman as host of NBC’s Late Night in 1993, but later left in 2000 to focus on acting.
On Tonight, Richter will not be a nightly desk-side presence as he was on Late Night, but will also participate in both live and pre-taped comedy bits.
“Andy is one of the funniest people I know, and we’ve maintained a close friendship since he left Late Night,” O’Brien said. “We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to The Tonight Show."
O'Brien joked that Richter's joining the show for practical reasons as well. “He owes me $300,” O’Brien said.
O’Brien and Richter will make their Tonight debuts on June 1.
